PEDRO KOS | Co-Director

Pedro Kos’ latest documentary feature film REBEL HEARTS, which he directed, wrote, and edited premiered in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and is being released worldwide by Discovery+ in the summer of 2021. Prior to that he wrote and produced Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer’s Netflix Original Documentary THE GREAT HACK which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA award. His feature directorial debut BENDING THE ARC (co-directed with Kief Davidson) premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Previously, he edited Jehane Noujaim’s Academy Award nominee THE SQUARE which earned Pedro an Emmy Award for Best Editing for a Non-Fiction program, Lucy Walker’s Academy Award nominee WASTE LAND and THE CRASH REEL (2013 SXSW Film Festival Audience Award winner), Jon Shenk’s THE ISLAND PRESIDENT (2011 TIFF Documentary People’s Choice Award winner) among others. Pedro is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and received his B.A. in Theater Directing from Yale University.

JON SHENK | Co-Director

Jon Shenk has been directing and shooting documentaries for 25 years. His most recent film, LEAD ME HOME (co-directed with Pedro Kos) tackles the crisis of homelessness in the United States. Prior to that, he photographed and co-directed three films with his partner, Bonni Cohen: ATHLETE A (Netflix), AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER (Participant Media/Paramount), and AUDRIE & DAISY (Netflix). His past films also include THE ISLAND PRESIDENT, LOST BOYS OF SUDAN, BLAME SOMEBODY ELSE, and THE BEGINNING. For his work, Jon has won the Independent Spirit Award, IDA’s Pare Lorentz Award, the Peabody Award, a Grierson Award, a Critics Choice Award, and two Emmy Awards. He served as Director of Photography for the 2008 Academy Award-winning SMILE PINKI.

Serin Marshall | Producer

Serin Marshall is an Emmy-winning producer based in San Francisco. Most recently, she produced the Netflix documentaries ATHLETE A and LEAD ME HOME for Actual Films. Previous credits include VEGAS BABY (PBS) and the HBO films BOBBY FISCHER AGAINST THE WORLD, SHOUTING FIRE: STORIES FROM THE EDGE OF FREE SPEECH, THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH AUNT DIANE and THE FENCE for Moxie Firecracker Films. She has been a field and archival producer on numerous other projects, and is currently producing two new feature-length documentaries for Netflix.

BONNI COHEN | Producer

Bonni Cohen has produced and directed an array of award-winning films. Most recently she produced LEAD ME HOME, which premiered at the 2021 Telluride Film Festival and is a Netflix Original. She also recently co-directed ATHLETE A, which won an Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Documentary and received four nominations from the Critics’ Choice Awards. Previously, Bonni co-directed AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER which was selected to be the opening night film of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, short-listed for the 2018 Oscars and nominated for a 2018 BAFTA for Best Documentary. In 2016 Bonni co-directed the Peabody Award winning film AUDRIE & DAISY, which premiered in competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and was picked up as a Netflix Original film. In addition to her directing work, Bonni served as Producer on THE ISLAND PRESIDENT, winner of the 2011 Toronto International Best Documentary.  Her work as producer and director on THE RAPE OF EUROPA earned her a PGA and WGA nomination and was short-listed for the Oscars. In addition, Bonni produced Jon Else’s Sundance film, WONDERS ARE MANY and together with Else co-directed INSIDE GUANTANAMO, which was nominated for an Emmy for Best Documentary in 2009. Bonni also Executive Produced 3.5 MINUTES and ART AND CRAFT, both films were selected for the Oscar shortlist in 2015. Together with Lisa Chanoff, Bonni is the co-founder of the Catapult Film Fund.

RICHARD BERGE | Producer

Richard Berge is an Emmy award-winning Bay Area filmmaker who has produced many documentaries for wide theatrical and television release. Most recently, Berge is a producer of LEAD ME HOME (2021) and the executive producer of LAND OF GOLD (2021).  He was also the executive producer for ATHLETE A, which won the Emmy for Outstanding Investigative Documentary and is a Netflix Original. Berge also produced AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER (2017) which was selected to be the opening night film of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and was released internationally by Paramount Pictures in summer 2017. He was a producer on the Peabody Award-winning AUDRIE & DAISY (2016), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is distributed worldwide as a Netflix Original, and THE ISLAND PRESIDENT (2011), for which he was nominated for Theatrical Documentary Producer of the Year by the Producers Guild of America. The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, received the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and won the Pare Lorentz Award from the International Documentary Association. He produced and directed THE RAPE OF EUROPA (2006) which was nominated for two Emmy Awards and for Best Documentary Screenplay by the Writers Guild of America. With director Barry Levinson, Berge wrote and produced YESTERDAY’S TOMORROWS (1999) for Showtime and Disney. He was the line producer for Jon Else’s SING FASTER: THE STAGEHANDS’ RING CYCLE (1999), which received an Emmy Award and the Filmmaker’s Trophy at the Sundance Film Festival. He wrote and produced profiles of visual and performing artists for MAKE:TELEVISION (2008) and SPARK! (2003-04), two weekly series for public television.
